Frequently Asked Questions

if you can think of a question about staying at Salvin House, there's a good chance we've answered it here.

Can I only book for a one week stay at Salvin House?

Our minimum stay is two nights, except for the festive season (5 nights), Easter (4 nights) and the summer peak season (7 nights, Saturday changeover only).

Why do you charge a fee per guest?

We try to keep our rates as competitive as possible at Salvin House Alston., which is why our basic rates are for two guests and additional guests are charged at £6 per guest per night. Our additional fees are actually there so we can pass on a discount to smaller groups. If you have fewer people, there is less bedding to wash and you will use less energy, so we think it's only fair that our costs reflect this. Our normal full rate is actually the rate with eight guests.

Why do you charge a cleaning fee?

The cost of getting Salvin House Alston ready for the next guest doesn't really change whether you stay for 2 nights or 2 2 weeks, so we charge a standard cleaning fee to keep things fair. This fee is reflected in our nightly rates, so it's not really an extra charge.
